Samsung Galaxy A11
The Galaxy A11, which took the place of the Galaxy A10E in early 2020, is one of Samsung’s least expensive smartphones. You can only get it with 32GB or 64GB of storage, but it comes in a few standard Samsung colors, like blue, white, and black. Samsung’s One UI 3.1 update came out for it in May 2021, and it now runs Android 11. The insides have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor, up to 3GB of RAM, and a strong 4,000mAh battery as well. There is a headphone jack on top of the phone and a 6.4-inch HD Plus screen that ties it all together. For a little more audio freedom, you also get a bottom-firing single speaker.The Samsung Galaxy A11 comes with a USB-C charger, a pair of white wired earbuds, and a tool for taking out the SIM card.
Software, performance, Battery
There is a version of Android 10 that Samsung made just for the Galaxy A11 that is called One UI 2.1. That means the software experience is pretty much the same as on the top-of-the-line Galaxy S and Note phones, but without the tools that need certain hardware. All of Android 10’s features are there, like full-screen navigation, better alerts, a dark theme that covers the whole system, and more. On top of that, Samsung adds its own features.
The Galaxy A11 is easy to use if you’ve had a Samsung phone in the last few years. There are still some Samsung apps that are exact copies of Google apps that you can’t get rid of or even turn off, and you can’t use other launchers with the new gesture control, but other than that, I don’t have many problems with One UI.
If you buy the Galaxy A11 from a provider, on the other hand, get ready for a lot of extra software. When I got my review unit from Boost Mobile, it came with more than 15 third-party apps already loaded. There were even some that sent spam push alerts, like Boost’s FastNEWS app.
For a cheap phone, the Galaxy A11 works about as well as you’d expect. It can take a few seconds for apps to load, and the phone can be slow when it wakes up from sleep, but it’s not really a problem for everyday use. At least the battery life is great—the big 4,000mAh battery should last most people more than two days.
